***** To put in your own words a creative personality, full of freedom and decisions going beyond the ordinary life pattern is a quite difficult thing to do. But is it not, for many of us too difficult to watch and talk about someone's very successful life.
Consequently and ordinarily, without any evolutions, Barbara Luczkowiak is developing her work as an artist. Staying all the time in her world of fascinations she is trying to fathom the problems that she has reached before.
These are not some strict rules of any art period, but frank experiences coming from her birthplace, connections with nature and being attached to Earth. She did not leave her home, her roots, that is why her art is deeply natural and true. There are no neurotic conflicts, because the artist herself is emotionally stable. Her work reaches the highest levels of simplicity of creating her own world.
She accepts reality and takes things as they are, not as anyone would want them to be. Standing very strongly on the ground she is trying to paint about unavoidable fate.
The great part of her work are gobelin tapestries, huge, traditionally woven pictures, but what fascinates me the most is the world of her paintings made by using the collage technique. These are very personal creations made from pieces of different people's clothes, full of strange existence and pieces of other people as well as her own. This is a very important part of her work; transformation of old pieces of fabric into new quality of art. Her art shows us that a man is a spiritual beggar and his physical existence is painfully obvious and tangible. At the same time she asks: where is human's spirituality?
Barbara Łuczkowiak is manipulating an intellectual symbolism, closer to the language of written art than to the language of paintings. The beauty of her paintings can be expressed as an ambiguous thought: the beauty of sense strictori is a category of beauty of sense large. Why am I writing about it?
To strive for beauty is an everlasting aim of every artist. Finding beauty in life is a way of creating, this duplicitous burden is a feature of every artist. Barbara Luczkowiak has a real strong selfconsciousness.
This is a very rare feature among artists. To know yourself is a gift that lets you create in a natural way - things that you want to create and things that you love. In the area of her searches there is also a land of magical intellect that pushes her into sphere of secret lunar and aqueous symbols. The moon, the water: the lunar symbols are connected with women by their physiology and strongly attached aqueous symbols with live-giving humidity. But we will not find a boorish image of our brother Moon or wrinkled surface of water. The Moon and water hidden in pale sound and blue music of colours. It consists in creating the difference between two matters: invisible nature of sound and visible sound of colours. This sophisticated play of colour, sound, material and chord made me look for the key to understanding her art. Her creations programme - and I found one word that I think, is felicitous - tessitura.
Tessitura means fabric, weaving and at the same time a scale of singer's voice having special features and used intentionally in a piece of music. Following the trace of music I can say that this woven divertimento with dynamic parts of allegro and slow largo, breathes with atmosphere of cassacione music, played always in open air in the evenings by the Moonlight.
This daring meeting of invisible sound and material object creates a seeming contradiction. Consistent work of Barbara Łuczkowiak leads to mastery in homogeneous illustrating dual nature. The source of her thoughts and creative work is a discovery that contrasts are dependent and harmonious.Stanislaw Andrzejewski***** Barbara Luczkowiak creates gobelin tapestries, collages, and paintings on selected materials. This changeability of materials, on which she creates, is very important for her imagination. She is fascinated with light of different intensity and colours. To paint this phenomenon she uses techniques of a different kind and different materials.***** Her compositions are nocturnes of secret - synthesis of light and traces of memory. The play of lights and space of the paintings brings on mind the map of outer space with its twinkling stars or reflections on the water of an extinguishing fire.***** The chosen decision of an artistic way is her world of quest and expressing - it is a confirmation and calling for every artist to his thesis in which he defends the most important values that are his visible and recognisable sign.***** Compositions shown on the exhibition were displayed in many other displays in Europe and United States of North America.Wojciech Sadlej
